Salida Artworks is initiating a membership program. We are seeking endorsement for the many programs and events we offer to support the Salida Arts Community. Charter Members, Sponsors and Patrons will be memorialized and recognized as the foundation of ArtWorks. Those who join between now and April 2011 will compose the Charter group.
We have found that to initiate this now at the same time as the Registry Show is confusing to many of you and we seek your patience. *For this year you may participate in the registry show by simply being on the free registry.* To register for the show, see link below under Call For Artists.
To join the Charter Membership requires a separate step and form…the reward for your effort is an image enhanced web page on our site. In addition there is an incentive of a discounted membership fee for those participating in the show along with other benefits.

ArtWorks annual Registry Show VALLEY VISIONS AND VOICES
Oct 22 through Nov 24, 2010
This year the Registry Show is forming the basis for a month long Celebration of the Arts brought to you by a collaboration between Salida ArtWorks, Salida SteamPlant and Salida Humanists.
Art will be hung throughout the SteamPlant with a gala opening. Other events are encouraged to tie in and make this “a month of celebrating art in our valley!

SALIDA ARTWORKS
MISSION
Salida ArtWorks seeks to weave the arts into the fabric of our community by providing resources and programs designed to nurture artistic expression and broaden participation in the arts.
The organization was established to support and build on the area’s unique and rich art community, including creative writing and the visual and performing arts.
ArtWorks is especially interested in providing networking among the artists, performers and writers in our community in an effort to promote collaboration. We strive for more efficient use of our limited resources. We seek to strengthen arts education in the public schools, nurture resident artists, and bring passionate and talented guest artists in all disciplines into our community.
ART WORKS believes that a community engaged in and supportive of the arts is a diverse and healthy community.
PROGRAMS
501c3 UMBRELLA
ArtWorks Provides 501c3 status to arts organizations as an umbrella. This is designed as an incubation tool for startups and as a means to support other groups who can benefit from this status for their fund raising. Parties interested apply, and if accepted, funnel their funds through ArtWorks for a 5% fee. Anyone wishing to apply for this can contact ArtWorks through our website “Contact” page.
POETRY GRANTS
ArtWorks received a grant from The Sparrows Poetry Festival in the amount of $2700. This Poetry Fund will be used for Salida Poetry Events, Chaffee County Poetry Workshops, Chaffee County Poetry Chapbook Assistance and a Poetry Festival. The Poetry Fund will allow ArtWorks to preserve and grow Chaffee County’s poetry community. The Salida Poetry Events may be open mics or other poetry events in Salida. The funds for Chaffee County Poetry Workshops will be used to lodge visiting poets who are conducting public workshops within Chaffee County. Chaffee County Poetry Chapbook Assistance will be awarded once or twice a year for the publication of individual chapbooks. ANNUAL RESIDENCY
Partnering with Colorado Art Ranch, ArtWorks sponsors an annual month long residency in Salida. The residencies, by invitation only, are intended as “time-out” to write, create art, do research, or engage in creative work not possible in the crush of daily life. In turn, the residents give back to the community by presenting a public or school program during their stay here.
ANNUAL REGISTRY EXHIBIT
Artisans on the ArtWorks Registry are invited to participate in annual group exhibit at the Paquette Gallery in the Salida SteamPlant Theatre & Event Center. Visual artists display for six weeks and performing artists and poets participate in the opening reception.
