Monthly Creative Mixer

Join us every Second Thursday for the Creative Mixer.

Designed as a “Not a Meeting Zone” the Creative Mixer provides a  chance to socialize and catch up with fellow creatives in a relaxed atmosphere without an agenda. A soapbox is provided and each month participants are free to climb up and announce their news.  It’s the place to be… ie: to be in the know! Snacks are served. Cash bar.

Colorado Art Ranch Residents and Artposium

ArtWorks hosted seven Colorado Art Ranch artists and writers for a month-long stay in Salida away from their day-day- lives to focus on their work.  In return they shared their work with us by presenting  programs and an open studio to our community.

Catherine Bouzide worked near a pond west of town creating a mandala of corn ears made from the local soil and left to naturally degrade.

Mary Beth Ellis shared her experience of working in education at the Kennedy Space Center by presenting slides from the center and relating them to contemporary writings.

Michael Frels expanded his work in photography using the van dyke method of exposure and created collages of the resulting prints.  His installation at the open studio also included the wrappers of over 6000 pennies strewn all over Salida by Michael on his bike.

Sarah Hensen’s exquisite handmade paper celebrated the earth with ingrained local soils and seeds

Hyeon Jung Kim incorporated a washing machine overflowing with a watery appearing collection of laundry tickets sewn onto fabric.

Wendy Pabich came to work on her painting but was frequently distracted by requests to share her vast knowledge of water.

C. Maxx Stevens created beachball sized orbs from found objects and also smaller versions as totems next to  photo images of some of our beautiful spots in nature.

Wade Logo

May 21, 22, 23 2010.   Salida SteamPlant

Wade in the Water was Colorado Art Ranch’s seventh Artposium, and began their fourth year of programming.  It was also a milestone for us: a return to Salida, the location of Colorado Art Ranch’s first Artposium in 2007 produced in collaboration with Salida Artworks. Since then twice a year attendees walk away from a weekend where their perceptions and beliefs about the subject are so expanded they are awestruck.  Speakers Craig Childs, Greg Hobbs and Basia Irland each presented their unique perspectives.  In between multiple workshops gave participants opportunities to contemplate and play with water.  Overall a resounding success.

With almost double the number of participants this year’s sale was deemed a big success.  Participants gleefully made money for what had become their “Junque.” The large attendance of customers kept the morning lively with visiting and joyful “Finds.”
